Vladimir (Volodia) Shtuckmeister
was born in Belorussia in 1961 and studied at the Leningrad Academy of Music. While a student he played in the Academy Orchestra, appearing throughout the USSR, Japan, Poland and other countries. As a student Volodia took part and won commendations in many national competitions. Volodia stayed on as a teacher at the Leningrad Academy, serving as conductor of the student orchestra. Volodia immigrated to Israel in 1990, setting in Karmiel. He was hired as a conductor of the string orchestra of the Karmiel Conservatory of Music and teacher of piano and organ. Together with a group of new immigrant musicians from the former USSR and the assistance of the Karmiel Municipality and Association of USSR Immigrants, the Karmiel Orchestra was established -- 11 musicians, 1 vocalist and conductor. |
